What is RSS?

RSS or news feeds are a simple way of having news or information you're interested in delivered straight to you.

Rather than having to visit the Home Office Press site to check for the latest press releases, you can subscribe to our RSS feed and have links to the latest press releases delivered directly to your desktop.

How do I use RSS?

The first thing you need to do is download an RSS reader.

RSS readers (also called news readers) collect and display the RSS feeds you've subscribed to, all in one place.

There are lots of different readers available, some are accessed online, some are downloadable applications.

Here are 5 to try:

Google Reader
http://google.com/reader (new window)

Bloglines
http://bloglines.com (new window)

Rojo
http://www.rojo.com (new window)

Newsgator
http://newsgator.com (new window)

feedshow
http://feedshow.com (new window)

Once you have downloaded a news reader, you can subscribe to the feed either by dragging the orange RSS button into your news reader or by copying and pasting the URL of the RSS feed directly into the reader.
